A Pleasure to Meet You!

Me (hello!) and my wonderful husband and best pal, Michael

(…a close tie with Ida)

Hi there! I’m Dr. Nina Van Volkinburg.

It is always hard to define who you are (we are always evolving!), but on the surface, I am an Austrian- American artist and storyteller based in West London on a mission to preserve human craft and to make the world a happier place through creativity. I am also passionate about helping animals — they offer infinite joy and inspiration to me, and we all can learn so much from them. Also, nothing makes me happier than giving a furry friend a cuddle.

I approach my art with childlike wonder and start each piece with an original story that allows me to get lost in my imagination and create meaning in everyday moments. As a previous founder of a fashion upcycling startup, the principle of "the more you know, the more you care" remains a central message in everything I do and create.

Passionate about supporting creative talent, I am also a Course Leader at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, and have previously been featured in Vogue, Elle, BBC News, The Guardian, and Forbes, among others, for my contributions to the fashion business and sustainability.

Alongside my art, I regularly speak with young people about finding their purpose and navigating the creative industries.
